Bikes and beer

Recently we bought bikes. We have been talking about it ever since we moved here almost a year ago. A few weeks ago we finally decided to actually go do it so that we could take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having. We gots bikes for Katie and I and a little pull trailer that Zoe can ride in. We have tried to ride them almost everyday since we got them and it has been a fun family thing for us to do, besides getting us out of the house and off of the couch.

Our favorite place to ride our bikes to is Grant's Farm. There is a trail behind our house and Grant's Farm is about 2.5-3 miles up the trail. It is owned by Anheiser-Busch and is the home of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses (Thus the beer part of the title of this post.). They have tons of horses up there and the corrals are right next to the trail. On Saturday, we saw 3 baby horses. 2 of them were very close and came up to the fence to greet Zoe. She was so excited. You can check out our flickr site to see more pictures of the horses and Zoe's adventures. (Although I won't be able to download those until tomorrow at scholl because our internet here at home is too slow.)

A little side note to the story is Zoe's bird hunting. As I was getting things ready to go out on the bikes, Zoe spotted a bird in our front yard. She got really excited and took off towards it. Half way there she stopped, bent down and picked up a rock. Then she continued to approach the bird as close as she could. The bird was on to her pretty quickly and wouldn't let her get too close. I thought it was so funny that she picked up the rock on her way. I am still trying to decide if it was coincidental that she saw a "pretty" rock on her way to see the bird or if the rock was picked up with intent to use on the bird. We'll never know, but I have a feeling that Katie may have taught her something about throwing rocks at birds.

The bikes sound SO fun! Good for you guys. That's great that the weather is warm again too. How's Katie feeling? Do you get any time off from school in the summer?

I love the bird hunting story thats too funny. It is funny how cute and innocent your kids can seem one minute and the next your not so sure. I like your strategy just blame your spouse for the not so innocent moments:)
